Do You Need Your Aircraft Electronics Technician Qualification Fast? | Code 1 Maintenance
If you’re in the Armed Forces, you know how important it is to get all the credentials you can while you’re still in service.
An important qualification that is probably high on your list is the AET certificate from NCATT which forms the basis for many modern aviation technology licenses and credentials.
But when you’re a busy military aircraft maintenance technician, how do you find the time to study for the test along with all your other duties?
We have the answer with our intensive 1 to 2-day AET Certification course developed by our own team here at Code1MX!
What is the AET NCATT License Certification?
The Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) standard has been developed by the National Center for Aerospace and Transportation Technologies (NCATT), a nonprofit organization in Fort Worth, Texas, together with industry and government entities, including the military and the FAA.
The first AET certification exam was given in 2006, and NCATT reports there are now around 2,600 individuals who have passed the test and are AET-certified.
The standard outlines the avionics community’s sense of the fundamentals that every avionics technician should know. Among them are the basics of direct and alternating current, circuit theory of operation, troubleshooting, calculations, and measurements; resistors, inductors, capacitors, and transformers; analog circuits and power supply circuits, and digital logic.
Since the Aircraft Electronics Technician standard describes a level of fundamental knowledge, it doesn’t change much over time, but add-on qualifications (also known as endorsements), have also been developed by the organization.
AET Endorsements
These endorsements cover areas such as autonomous navigation systems (ANS), dependent navigation systems (DNS), radio communications systems (RCS), and onboard communication and safety systems (OCS) that build on the foundation provided by the standard.
These add-ons will be available to take once the basic certification is completed.
Code1MX currently offers a fast-track RCS certification online course and we add more classes all the time. Contact us to find out more.

AET Credential Benefits - Better Jobs - More Pay
The AET certificate provides tangible value for military personnel.
According to NCATT themselves, the “Air Force, Navy and Army do reward individuals for the AET and other NCATT certification[s].”
The certifications can help to get points for promotion, and a service member in the Air Force who achieves AET certification can claim five hours credit towards a degree at the CCAF Air University.
The military services, avionics manufacturers, repair stations and many in the training industry all recognize AET certification as an important qualification.
And it powers up your resume! The Aircraft Electronics Technician standard forms the basis for several endorsements that will help you further your career both in the military and civilian aviation.
Industry recognition as an avionics technician is a must for higher-paying jobs. You can apply for an FAA Repairman Certificate once you are certified and pass an applicable endorsement, such as our NCATT Radio Communication System (RCS) course.
